Manager, Supplier Quality Assurance, Cranston, RI
Scope of the Job:
This position is responsible for developing and leading a comprehensive Supplier
Quality Management function as a strategic program to support business and
quality objectives.
Responsibilities:
To create appropriate requirements and documentation in the selection and control
of supplier product quality, identification and resolution of corrective actions,
and control of Quality costs.
Selecting, supervising, and developing Supplier Quality Engineers to audit, monitor,
evaluate, and improve supplier quality systems and provide technical support to
suppliers as determined by management. Develop those Engineers for the purposes of
succession and career opportunities within the company.
Providing coordination with other Divisions in the development and implementation
of progressive Supplier Quality Management systems and activities.
Providing coordination with and guidance to manufacturing sites regarding the
design and implementation of their respective supplier quality management systems for
those suppliers designated within the scope of their supplier quality management responsibilities.
Works closely with the Purchasing Department in managing Supplier Base.
Identifying and appropriately implement statistical engineering tools and techniques to
evaluate supplier process capability and technical performance.
Evaluating supplier quality systems and strategies compliant with regulatory requirements.
Collecting and analyzing Quality data relating to Supplier Quality. Identifying and defining
correction action required, initial corrective action with responsible function and follow-up
to assure completion and effectiveness.
Providing supplier quality engineering management to support new product design projects as
required.
25-50% travel required, as determined by business needs.
Candidate Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or other technical discipline required.
Master of Science Degree in business or technology preferred.
Minimum of five years experience in a Quality Management or Supplier Management
capacity or equivalent preferred.
Previous supervisory experience of exempt personnel required.
Demonstrated ability to apply statistical quality engineering tools in a supplier environment.
Thorough knowledge of medical device manufacturing system requirements including 21 CFR 820,
EU Medical Device Directive, Canadian CAMCAS system, Australian TGA, Japan MGLW, and the
relevant elements of supplier quality management requirements.
Effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
Effective problem solving techniques and leadership skills.
Six Sigma Black Belt/Lean Manufacturing experience preferred. ASQ-CQE, CQA, and/or Certified
Quality Manager preferred.
